Ceramic (3M Lava Zirconia) Crowns—Updating Her Smile

“L” had her original front crowns placed years ago. They no longer complimented her smile, plus she wanted to get rid of the all-too-common, dreaded black lines and dark gums. Her old crowns had a metal base that blocked light and cast a dark shadow on her roots and gums.

Replacing those with 3M’s Zirconia-based Lava^TMcrowns was the answer. These metal-free crowns allow light to shine through the translucent porcelain and light up the gums. “L” didn’t want a “cooky-cutter” or “chiclet” smile. Rather, she wanted it to look natural, and we accomplished that for her!

Metal based crowns block light and cast a dark shadow deep into the gums. They look dark purple!
